Nairobi December 13, 2007…
In line with the Christmas spirit, Flashcom will be giving free on net telephone calls to their customers. Flashcom customers will be able to make free Flashcom to Flashcom calls all day, any day from 15th December 2007 to 15th January 2008. The main aim of this promotion is to provide an opportunity for customers to talk endlessly to loved ones and share in the season's magic.
The promotion also aims at rewarding customers for their business for the last one year and also encouraging longer telephone conversations on phone. "Due to the high costs of telephony, most people keep their conversations to the bare minimum sacrificing the usual niceties such as hello and goodbye. By allowing free calls we are giving people the opportunity to rediscover the art of conversation." says Flashcom CEO Robert Kariuki Mugo. He pointed out that the average call is less than 1 minute, which is very little time to say anything. Kenyans are very social and like to talk, therefore this new concept will allow us to be our true selves and talk for as long as we want.
Life has become very fast paced and everyone is busy therefore the only way to catch up with friends and family is through the telephone. "This is what we want to facilitate especially during this season where there is a lot happening in our country with the elections and also the festivities" he said. "Currently the market has a lot happening with each service provider running a holiday promotion. There is extended off-peak hours, 2-for-1 promotions and reduced calling rates, all of which are meant to encourage longer talk-time for the end-user" said Robert Apart from the free calls that we are offering our customers we currently have the most affordable rates in the market.
Flashcom to Flashcom calls are normally charged at Kshs. 4.00 per minute, landline calls Kshs 5.50 per minute, and calls to mobile Kshs 12.00 per minute. On international calls, customers pay KShs 10.00 per minute for calls to USA, Europe, Canada, South Africa, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Israel, South Korea and Russia. Robert says "Our mission is to provide affordable telecommunication service to our customers. We have been able to do so by offering the lowest rates in the market". Flashcom is a new telephone network that provides telephone, Internet Access, SMS, and Fax services.
Flashcom was established in 2004 as the first private wireless local loop operator. The company is 100 per cent locally owned by investors who have responded to the government's initiative for local participation in the development of Kenya's telecommunications infrastructure.
And towards this end, Flashcom, whose mission is to provide the most affordable and reliable telecommunication service to its customers, has partnered with leading a global telecommunications equipment supplier and established a world-class telecommunications network. Flashcom won the Best Local Loop Operator 2007 for the second year running from the Computer Society of Kenya at their 12th Annual Awards.
